OUR ELECTION STATEMENT
Abortion was on the ballot in ten states. Seven initiatives passed, protecting 8.2 million people. Arizona and Missouri restored access for 1.2 million. New York enshrined abortion rights and expanded protections in its constitution.
Florida, Nebraska, and South Dakota’s pro-abortion measures failed, affecting 4.6 million people. Florida’s measure, with 57% support, fell short of the 60% needed. South Dakota kept its ban, and Nebraska narrowly missed overturning a 12-week ban.
With Trump’s return imminent, reproductive rights face threats. President Biden must publish the ERA now. We have 74 days to act.

Open Letter to Vice President Kamala Harris

Vice President Harris,
After months of cross-movement advocacy from progressive youth groups, we appreciate President Biden’s decision to step down from the candidacy and pass the torch to a new generation of Democratic leadership. With your nomination as the 2024 Democratic candidate for President and your selection of Governor Tim Walz as your running mate, the work for a bold and progressive agenda that resonates with the lived experiences of young people can begin.

Statement on Biden Administration’s Opposition to Gender-Affirming Surgery for Youth
Last Wednesday, June 26th, the White House told the New York Times that they “opposed gender-affirming surgery for minors.” This statement follows the release of new Title IX regulations that denied the rights of transgender athletes to play on sports teams that align with their gender. Young people have a message for President Biden: allyship is not conditional.

Statement on the Supreme Court’s Decision in Moyle v. US and Idaho v. US
On Thursday June 26, 2024, the Supreme Court published their decision in Moyle v. US and Idaho v. US, a pair of consolidated cases in which the Court considered whether EMTALA—a federal statute that guarantees the right to stabilizing emergency care, including emergency abortion—preempts Idaho’s draconian total abortion ban. In the 6-3 draft opinion, the Court dismissed the case as “improvidently granted” on the basis that the Court should not have intervened as early as it did. The case will return to the lower courts, whose previous order blocking Idaho from enforcing its abortion ban will go back in effect.

Over 100 Young People Rally at Supreme Court to Demand ERA NOW On Dobbs’ Second Anniversary
Today, on the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, over 100 young people are rallying in front of the Supreme Court at 4:30 PM to demand their right to abortion be secured in the U.S. Constitution through the publication of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). They demand that Biden immediately instructs the National Archivist to certify and publish the ERA. This demonstration is part of a series of actions organized today as part of the Right to Abortion campaign by the Young Feminist Party (formerly Generation Ratify).
