HELP FUEL OUR YOUTH-POWERED ORGANIZING

Last July 21st through 23rd, feminists from across the country gathered in Seneca Falls, NY to commemorate the 100-year long struggle to publish the Equal Rights Amendment. Check out this Ms. Magazine article written by Carrie Baker detailing our historic weekend.

Immediately after, two of our organizers we were arrested for obstructing traffic on Constitution Avenue outside of the National Archives. They were alongside dozens of their peers who shut down the street for six hours to demand the immediate certification and publication of the Equal Rights Amendment.

The Equal Rights Amendment has fulfilled all requirements for ratification—passage by 2/3rds of Congress and ratification by 3/4ths (38) of states. The only thing that is standing in its way is an arbitrary deadline. But we can’t let a procedural hurdle keep us out of the Constitution. Keep queer and transgender youth out of the Constitution. Keep Black and brown youth out of the Constitution. Keep abortion seekers out of the Constitution.

The young people of Young Feminist Party aren't letting up anytime soon. We went back to Capitol Hill the past couple days alongside dozens of our peers. We’ve been going door-to-door in Congress asking Representatives and Senators to take action on the ERA. Next, we are taking our fight to local communities across the country to pass local and state ERA measures, and build the movement for constitutional equality from the ground-up. Following our Centennial Convention, we are feeling energized and prepared to strategically movement-build on ALL levels of government to advance gender justice in our Constitution.

To build the intergenerational movement we need to win the ERA, we need older generations to invest in the next generation of ERA advocates. Become a monthly recurring donor today and sustain the young people's movement for constitutional gender equality.
